PUBLIC APPEAL LMS are converting a former council store room into a new Men's Shed for the Lockerbie and surrounding area. We are seeking donations of sheet material (ply, gyproc, insulation board) and timber for studwork etc. If you have offuts and leftovers from DIY projects or are skipping material at a building site, let us know. If we can use it we'll move it. Contact 0751 1024394 or leave a message on this site. Read More
Lockerbie & Lochmaben Mens Shed is inviting men [and women?] aged 50+ to join other shedders in a shared workspace in to design, make and decorate personal and group projects. People with differing abilities are welcome. The Shed is as much about learning and making friends as crafting and woodworking.
Most members are practical and want to keep their minds and bodies active. They may have a garden shed at home but prefer to work with other like-minded people to get help, share skills, and swap stories. The essential elements of any Shed are a table, chairs and tea. As well as meeting in the Shed each week [on Tuesdays and Wednesdays], shedders also go out and about doing community projects.
As many of you will know, the traditional Men's Shed focuses on providing a range of faciities for older men with a view to reducing isolation, improving well being and creating opportunities to learn new skills or to pass on existing skills.
LMS will, of course, be concentrating on those aims but we'd also like to reach out to the community at large.
If you live in Lockerbie, Lochmaben or the surrounding area, how do you think that the Men's Shed could help you or your community group?
